deep disco warrior the revenge turns in an epic hypnotic mix of slow burning house nailed down by analogue bass and acid. using a filtered vocal it builds slowly as the bottom end is tweeked towards a mesmeric journey through minimal wigged out disco. sleazy mcqueen and romano arcaini turn in a disco inflected house mix with congas, spaces out synths and enough dynamics to keep any dancefloor bubbling. it builds with added percussion and a filtered pad before the lead hits the break and the track comes back in with even more wallop. drug empire is an original off the album and has had support from the likes of rune lindbaek, crazy p’s hot toddy and horse meat disco. said to be inspired by theo parrish’s productions it’s a delicious slice of bass driven deep disco with a nod to the looser end of detroit and chicago. it’s all about the fully locked in three note analogue moog bass which holds down the grooved out drums before breaking to jazzy rhodes at the end. one for the heads.

boom merchant follows up last years hugely successful *stars/green symphony* with another perfect balance of rhythmic and melodic elements. *surge* is a track that always generates a huge reaction, built around a tight groove with plenty of action in the low end. it is literally smeared with electrical charge and doused in layers of harmonic goodness.

haunted doorbell are timothy j. fairplay and matilda tristram who released xylophone together last year on astro lab recordings. picking up where xylophone left off unconnected thoughts on jacking is four tracks of naive melodies, rough slamjack drums, and new age atmospheres. starclash kicks off side a, with its dramatic arpeggios and sid chip crashes, techno to soundtrack the saturday night laser show at the planetarium. following is a night of adventure with its eastern scales and washy broken chorus unit hiss. on side b we have beautiful sheffield - an ode to electronic musics (possibly) most important british city and the title track rounds of the ep - house music for listening to while looking out to sea.

russias art crime seemingly came out of nowhere with his first record and it blew us all away at phonica. lead track release was pure nineties house nostalgia, a huge reverbed piano over skipping drums that became an instant shop classic. we just couldnt get it out of our heads!

the mysterious duo project overall severity landed on fabrizio lapiana s attic music with an intense three track ep called -helene-, second installment of the new hurricane series. on the first side, in -vario 7288- they make an intricate journey immersed in a dark noir melody with powerful techno rhythms and plenty of alien sounds. -unable to assess- on the b-side turns into a hypnotic-linear sound focused on an obsessive and scientific atmosphere where the loopy drums light the way. an ambient flow closes this work, -emotional harm- is an evocative result of accurate sound design full of bleep, breaks and distorted chords.
